There are so many gems in this post! Great ways to jazz up your work life when it starts to feel routine.
Changing your perspective and story can really make a difference.

One thing I noticed is that changing the way the furniture is arranged in my office can make it feel new and fun again.

Also, having something exciting or new to do after hours can make work more meaningful and less tedious. All work and no play - even when the work is fun - can lead to burn out.

We need more of this advice! Almost everything out there says when the job gets unpleasant, it means you should leave. There are countless numbers of workers who can't leave. These suggestions give us a little more control over our work life. And a feeling of control can help decrease stress, too.

Taking a cumulative view is perhaps the best piece of advice in the list - many tiny adjustments can be more effective than one giant one. But really, every tip here is outstanding.

I completely agree with what you're saying. Most people decide to quit their job when it loses its effervescence. Even if this is the easiest way out, it is definitely the worst approach, because, as in every other aspect of our lives, change has to come from within. I, too, have learned this the hard way. But in the end, I decided that I needed to take a step back and think about what's making me happy. My secret is to consider every working day as a play-date: I always take on my tasks with the same enthusiasm a kid shows when running down a hill.

And there's always that old trick of comparing your job to the one of a janitor or a 1800s assembly line worker, but that will only hold for a couple of hours, maybe days.
